Remnants

I'm realizing more and more that some people are just like shooting stars who come into your life, and vanish from it almost as soon as they enter and fill it with so much light. I feel like all I'm left with is the residue from their finger tips left on my own hands, their voices still hovering around my eardrums, like planets in orbit. Some people indeed come and go, but there are those special few that will impact your life more than they will ever know. Over the years, I've come to have a lot of these 'come-and-go' relationships, especially after living in China. It makes me wonder if shooting stars leave a trail in the sky?

Something I will always remember about this night of shooting, is what my brother said to me while we were out photographing. He said, "Kate, you know those memories you have that feel insignificant at the time, then later when you look back, they feel warm? I feel like this will be one of those memories."
